These Terms and Conditions govern your use of car hire services provided by 4Drive Albania ("we", "us", "our", "4Drive"). By booking a vehicle through our website or service, you ("customer", "you", "renter") agree to be bound by these terms in full.
Please read these terms carefully before making a reservation. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not proceed with booking.
4Drive Albania operates as a direct car hire provider in Albania. When you book a vehicle through our platform at 4drivealbania.com, you enter into a rental agreement directly with 4Drive Albania. We are not a broker or intermediary - we own and operate the vehicles we rent to customers.
Your rental contract becomes binding when you receive written confirmation of your booking via email. This confirmation will include your reservation details, pickup location, dates, vehicle category, and total rental cost.
All services are subject to vehicle availability. In rare cases where your selected vehicle is unavailable, we will offer a comparable or superior vehicle at no additional charge, or provide a full refund if the alternative is not acceptable to you.
To rent a vehicle from 4Drive Albania, you must meet the following requirements:
Age: You must be at least 21 years of age to rent economy and compact vehicles. For SUV, premium, and luxury categories, the minimum age is 23 years. Drivers under 25 may be subject to a young driver fee as specified in your booking confirmation.
Driving Licence: You must hold a valid driving licence that has been issued for at least one year. Licences issued by EU member states and most countries are accepted. Drivers holding licences from non-EU countries must present an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their national licence. The licence must be valid for the entire duration of the rental period.
Identification: A valid passport or national identity card is required at pickup. The name on your driving licence and identification document must match the name on your booking.
Additional Drivers: Any person who will drive the vehicle must be registered as an additional driver at the time of pickup. They must meet the same age and licence requirements and must be present at the rental counter to provide their documentation. An additional driver fee may apply as stated in your booking.
4Drive Albania offers car hire with no deposit required. Unlike traditional rental companies that block funds on your credit card, we do not place any security hold on your card or require a deposit at the time of booking or pickup.
Payment Methods: You can pay for your rental by debit card or cash on pickup. We accept VISA and Mastercard debit cards. Credit cards are not required. Payment in cash can be made in euros (EUR) or Albanian lek (ALL) at the prevailing exchange rate on the day of pickup.
Prepayment: If you choose to prepay your booking online, payment will be processed through our secure payment gateway. Prepaid bookings receive priority confirmation and may be eligible for additional discounts.
Pay at Pickup: You may opt to pay the full rental amount when you collect the vehicle. In this case, your booking is held with no payment taken in advance.
Additional Charges: Any optional extras you request (such as GPS, child seats, or additional insurance) will be charged at pickup unless prepaid at booking. Fuel charges, toll fees, fines, or damage beyond the included insurance coverage will be charged after the rental period ends.
Currency: All prices displayed on our website are in euros (EUR). If paying in Albanian lek, the exchange rate applied will be based on current bank rates plus a small conversion fee.
Every 4Drive rental includes full insurance coverage as standard. This is included in your rental price with no extra charges or hidden fees.
Included Coverage: Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Third Party Liability insurance are included in all rentals. This covers damage to the rental vehicle and injury or damage to third parties in accordance with Albanian legal requirements. There is no excess or deductible for standard collision or theft coverage when you follow the terms of this agreement.
What Is Not Covered: The insurance does not cover damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these terms. Specifically excluded are: damage to the undercarriage, wheels, tyres, or glass caused by off-road driving; damage caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; damage caused by reckless or illegal driving; and damage to the interior including burns, stains, or excessive dirt requiring special cleaning.
Driver Responsibility: You are responsible for the vehicle from the moment you take possession until you return it to us. You must report any accident, damage, or theft to the police and to 4Drive Albania immediately. Failure to report incidents or to provide a police report may result in denial of insurance coverage.
Traffic Fines and Violations: You are responsible for all fines, penalties, or charges incurred during your rental period including but not limited to speeding tickets, parking fines, toll violations, and border crossing violations. If we receive notice of a fine after you return the vehicle, we will charge you the fine amount plus an administrative fee.
The rental vehicle is provided for your personal or business use on paved public roads in Albania. You agree to the following conditions of use:
Permitted Use: You may drive the vehicle on all paved roads in Albania. You may cross into neighbouring countries (Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Greece) only with prior written permission from 4Drive and payment of applicable cross-border insurance fees. Unauthorised cross-border travel will void your insurance coverage.
Prohibited Use: The vehicle must not be used for the following purposes: racing, rallying, or any competition; driving instruction or driver testing; transportation of passengers for hire (taxi service); towing or pushing other vehicles; transporting illegal goods or contraband; off-road driving on unpaved tracks, beaches, or mountain trails not designated as public roads; transporting more passengers than seat belts available; transporting pets without prior authorisation and appropriate protection; or transportation of hazardous or flammable materials.
Road Conditions: While Albania has well-maintained motorways connecting major cities, some rural and mountain roads can be challenging. The Llogara Pass road from Vlore to Saranda, roads to Theth and Valbona in the Albanian Alps, and various mountain routes have steep gradients and hairpin bends. If you plan to drive in mountainous areas, we recommend renting an SUV or 4x4 vehicle. Driving on unpaved or extremely rough roads voids your insurance coverage.
Fuel Policy: Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. If you return the vehicle without refilling, you will be charged for the missing fuel at a rate higher than local pump prices plus a refuelling service fee. Diesel and petrol vehicles are clearly marked - using the wrong fuel type is your responsibility and repair costs will be charged to you.
Smoking: All 4Drive vehicles are non-smoking. A cleaning fee of EUR 150 will be charged if evidence of smoking is found in the vehicle.
Pickup Locations: Vehicles can be collected from Tirana International Airport (Rinas, TIA), our office in central Tirana, or delivered to your hotel or accommodation in Tirana, Durres, Vlore, Saranda, Shkoder, Berat, or Gjirokaster. Delivery fees may apply for hotel pickup depending on location - these are specified when you book.
Airport Pickup: If collecting from Tirana Airport, you will receive detailed instructions with your confirmation email including our meeting point and contact phone number. Our representative will meet you in the arrivals area with a 4Drive sign. Please call the number provided when you collect your luggage.
Documents Required: You must present your driving licence, passport or ID, and booking confirmation at pickup. We will inspect the vehicle with you and note any existing damage on the rental agreement. Please check the vehicle carefully and report any scratches, dents, or issues before driving away.
Vehicle Handover: We will explain all vehicle functions and provide you with emergency contact numbers. You will receive a rental agreement to sign which confirms the rental period, charges, and insurance coverage. Please keep this document with you while driving.
Late Pickup: If you are delayed and will arrive more than two hours after your scheduled pickup time, please contact us immediately. We hold vehicles for up to six hours after the scheduled time. Uncollected vehicles may be released after this period with no refund.
Return Process: Vehicles must be returned to the agreed location at or before the time stated in your agreement. We offer some flexibility with return times - please inform us if you need an extension. The vehicle must be returned clean, with a full tank of fuel, and in the same condition as when rented. We will inspect the vehicle with you at return and provide a return receipt.
Late Return: A grace period of 60 minutes is allowed for returns. After this, you will be charged for an additional rental day. If you know you will be late, contact us to extend your rental rather than incurring late fees.
Early Return: If you return the vehicle earlier than your agreed return date, no refund will be provided for unused days. The rental price is calculated based on the total booked period.
4Drive Albania offers flexible cancellation terms for your convenience.
Free Cancellation: You may cancel your booking free of charge up to 48 hours before your scheduled pickup time. To cancel, contact us by email or phone with your booking reference. We will confirm cancellation in writing and process any refund within 7 business days.
Late Cancellation: Cancellations made less than 48 hours before pickup are subject to a cancellation fee of 50 per cent of the total rental cost. No-shows (failure to collect the vehicle without cancellation) will be charged the full rental amount.
Modification: You can modify your booking (change dates, pickup location, or vehicle category) free of charge up to 48 hours before pickup, subject to availability. Contact us with your requested changes and we will send a revised confirmation. Changes made within 48 hours of pickup are subject to a EUR 25 modification fee.
Force Majeure: In the event of circumstances beyond our control (natural disasters, government restrictions, airport closures, etc.) that prevent you from collecting or using the vehicle, we will offer a full refund or allow you to rebook for a future date with no penalties.
If you experience mechanical problems or breakdown during your rental, contact our 24-hour emergency line immediately. The number is provided in your rental agreement and on a card in the vehicle.
Mechanical Failure: If the vehicle breaks down due to mechanical fault (not caused by misuse), we will arrange roadside assistance or recovery at no charge to you. If repair is not possible quickly, we will provide a replacement vehicle. You are not responsible for mechanical failures beyond your control.
Accidents: In case of accident, stop safely and call the Albanian police (dial 129) to obtain a police report. Then contact 4Drive immediately. Do not admit fault or sign any documents you do not understand. We will guide you through the process and arrange support. Your insurance coverage is only valid if you obtain a police report and notify us within 24 hours.
Theft: If the vehicle is stolen, report it to the police immediately and obtain a crime report reference number, then notify 4Drive within six hours. You must provide us with the police report to claim insurance coverage.
Lost Keys: If you lose the vehicle keys, contact us immediately. A replacement key fee of EUR 200 applies plus any recovery costs if the vehicle must be transported. Keep keys secure at all times.
We collect and process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Albanian data protection law. Information collected includes your name, contact details, driving licence information, and payment details. This data is used solely to process your booking, provide rental services, and communicate with you regarding your rental.
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties except where required by law (for example, to report traffic violations to authorities). Your payment information is processed securely through encrypted payment gateways and is not stored on our servers.

4Drive Albania provides rental vehicles and services on an "as is" basis. While we maintain our vehicles to high standards and carry out regular safety checks, we cannot guarantee that vehicles will be fault-free or that your rental experience will be uninterrupted.
We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental losses arising from your use of our services including but not limited to loss of profits, business interruption, missed flights or connections, hotel costs, or other travel expenses. Our liability is limited to the direct cost of the rental service provided.
We are not responsible for items left in rental vehicles after return. Please check the vehicle thoroughly before handing back the keys. Lost property will be held for 30 days if found, but we cannot guarantee its return.
While our vehicles are comprehensively insured, you acknowledge that driving in Albania involves normal road risks including challenging mountain roads, variable road surfaces, and local driving conditions. You accept these risks when renting from us.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Albania. Any disputes arising from or relating to your rental agreement or these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Albania.
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and 4Drive Albania regarding your vehicle rental. No verbal or written statements made by our staff that contradict these terms are binding unless confirmed in writing and signed by an authorised company representative.
In these terms, the following definitions apply:
"Rental Period" means the time between vehicle pickup and return as stated in your rental agreement.
"Vehicle" means the car, SUV, or other motor vehicle rented to you by 4Drive Albania, including all its parts, accessories, tyres, keys, and documents.
"Damage" means any physical harm to the vehicle including scratches, dents, broken glass, interior damage, or mechanical damage resulting from misuse.
"Authorised Driver" means you (the primary renter) and any additional drivers registered and approved by 4Drive at the time of pickup.
"Excess" means the amount you would be required to pay towards damage claims. With 4Drive's included insurance, there is no excess for standard collision or theft when terms are followed.
